Last Tuesday the sun came out with perfect timing for my first shoot in ages: a collaboration with local talent in the form make-up artist Sabina Ventriglia and graduate designer Claudia Biele. I rarely shoot in my hometown these days so it was really refreshing and exciting to discover more local people to work with and this fantastic location that Claudia sourced. Love it!
As the sun was barely holding on to the sky we decided to make the best of it. In order to have the face lit properly this time we used aluminum foil wrapped around a big board, that we held in front of her face. That way you don't lose detail in the face, and still get the gorgeous orange glow behind her. And on top of that it's a very cheap method with maximum effect.
So here's part 2 of my shoot for Pravins jewellers last year - if you missed part one, you can check it out HERE if you fancy. Over three days we had to shoot a selection of images that fit each season and various holidays and events, which were to be rotated on the website all year round. And these are the Spring and Summer ones, featuring the lovely Sam and Felicity. Hope you like them!

The sun was slowly setting as I was taking this image, and the warm glow was creating the best light you could think of. We also made lots of portraits on this day in the forest that you can see far away in the background.
On Saturday the long-awaited photographers' picnic in the park came, organised by the lovely Kitty Gallannaugh way back in January! Sadly Kitty was unable to make it, but I hope the crazy amounts of behind the scenes photos and video footage will make her feel like she was there ♥
First of all: GROUP SHOT! I had to comp myself into this one as we had nowhere to balance the camera - I apologise if I've made any major Photoshop fails with this one as I'm super ill right now and editing this was a bit of a struggle with a headache!
Bizarrely enough I didn't actually end up taking that many behind the scenes things myself, so here are some picks from the albums I've seen so far on Facebook! Images credited below each set.

Despite the yucky weather at times it was a super fun day and I am DYING for there to be another one in the summer when the weather is a bit more guaranteed! In the meantime though I definitely recommend you take a peek at the portfolios of everybody there that day, being in the presence of such talent was so inspiring! Click the images below to be whisked away to each of their portfolios ♥
I just love to photograph food. Not only does the subject always look good, but also with just a few small steps you can easily achieve great shots. What you need when taking pictures of food is a good strong white side light, that almost blows it out (best is natural light by the window). Next you'll need a shallow depth of field (With the Canon 50mm 1.8 no problem). And last you'll need a good low angle to shoot the photos. But the last one is to taste of course. Here are some examples:
