Rural Views [Part 2/2]: The Path through the Woods

<b>The afternoon was still relaxing after the rain as we made the entrance into the woods. </b>A narrow path greeted us in the beginning and it was about to lead us all the way to the other side. It's not a very long walk, but the sights are plenty nevertheless.<b> </b></div>

<b>The countryside here will change soon, since a big highway is about to be built in the near vicinity. </b>I am not quite sure what will stay and what will go, but I will try to document the change through images once it happens.<b><br /></b></div>

We stopped for some portraits. I love this little stone fence. On the other side of the fence there are many fruit trees and other walking paths.</div>

Visiting Sibenik [Part 1/9]: Morning in a Seaside Town

<span style="font-size: small;"><b>After two long weeks of editing I have finally sorted through the vacation images to Sibenik. Over the course of our stay I made more then 1000 images, which I edited down to about 350 to show in this series. </b>It's a lot, and in order not to crowd each post with many images, I decided to divide the series into 9 parts. But believe me, there is still plenty to see in each post. <b> </b></span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><b>We have been to Sibenik three times before, but this was the first time with the Canon 6D,</b> and some of the night photography we did turned out fantastic. I was finally able to do some really good interior shots in the dark hallways of the Fortress of St. Nikola (Part Seven), and also some colorful, fun and happy night and dusk shots in the Beach and Spa Resort Solaris, near Sibenik (Parts Four and Five). </span><br />
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: small;"><b>For this first part I wanted to start of easy and relaxed. </b>I will show you the small seatown<b> </b>Brodarica, where we mainly stayed. Sibenik as a city doesn't really have a beach where you can swim, and since we wanted to swim and relax on the beach,<a href="https://www.facebook.com/apartmanibrodaricagaj" target="_blank"> we booked our stay here</a>, just like in the previous years.</span></div>

The morning started around 8:30 for me. After breakfast I grabbed my camera and made a stroll down the coastline of Brodarica. There were almost no other people on the beach, so I had the surroundings to myself.</div>

I love to take a glimpse into boats and ships, and see how they work and are structured. In the bay of Brodarica you can find many small boats. In the next part you will see more luxurious yachts and ships in the bay of the old town of Sibenik.</div>

Visiting Sibenik [Part 2/9]: A Night in the Old Town

<b>In the second part of the new travel series I will show you the old town of Sibenik, it's historic center as well as the various paths and streets.</b> The atmosphere in Sibenik is youthful and lively. Little streets lead to many squares where modern shop windows unite with the old architecture of the past centuries.<br />
<br />
<b>What I really like about the city is that everything is within walking distance.</b> From bus station to  the old city center it takes only five minutes to walk. You can get to  all sights on foot, and the furthest are within half an hour walk. My sister and I made a nightly visit and I was able to get into the small streets and corners and capture the more intimate sights of the city.<br />

We started our visit around 9 in the evening, the afterglow of the sun was still lingering in the sky, and gave some great color to the city and its surroundings. As we parked our car in the harbor parking lot, we started our trip, beginning with the walking lane along the sea.</div>

Sibenik has a big harbor that is being constructed right now, and across the walking lane, only smaller ships and yachts are docket, which gives you a nice vantage point when shooting them.</div>

The Sibenik Museum shown in the picture below was founded in 1925 to celebreate the thousand year anniversary of the Kingdom of Croatia, and is located in the former Prince's Palace. It's a complex type of museum, and consists of archeological, cultural-historic and ethnographic departments.  </div>

Then I saw these hanging doors right on the entrance to the old town center of Sibenik. Later I found out that these doors used to be functioning doors of the church behind them, but over time, as the city got reconstructed, they were literally left hanging in the air.</div>
